So, as the behind the scenes fairy I don't typically DJ much these days. However, this weekend I had the pleasure of DJing with our amazing DJ Shawn and I just have to brag a little - he is AMAZING. AMAZING amazing. Fantastic MC, so personable, great at coordinating with the wedding party and other vendors, and he will always make you laugh. A definite bonus. Plus, you should have seen that dance floor ALL NIGHT. Can't wait to see some photos from Heather Sali!

We continue to feel extremely blessed to have him on our team! This summer just keeps getting better and better.

So, I don't know about you, but I have this crazy Pinterest addiction. I stumbled across this tip the other day, and I mean, what's not to love? You mean to tell me that the bride doesn't have to do all of the work? Yes. Please.

You bridesmaids are standing with you for a reason, right? Your best friends, your sisters...you'd ask them for help any other time if you needed it. Why not on one of the most important days of your life? Here is a great list of things that your bridesmaids can do to help ease the stress of the day, and make sure that you look amazing all night long.

1. Make sure the bride looks flawless at all times. Everyone will be snapping pictures of her and you don’t want a picture of her to go on Facebook without lip-gloss, right?

2. Carry lip-gloss with you at all times. Just read point #1 again.

3. Support the bride’s irrational demands the day of the wedding. Just because she thinks the dress would look better with a bob instead of her gorgeous long hair doesn’t mean she should cut her hair the day of the wedding! Support her but talk her out of bad decisions.

4. Cater to the bride like true royalty. If she can’t figure out what she wants to drink bring her coffee, water, juice and a shot of vodka (just in case).

5. Call and confirm vendors. Don’t forget to call the day’s transportation, beauty appointments and florist.

6. Create a schedule and stick to it. Set alarms or timers that way everyone in the room knows if you’re running behind. This is especially important for hair and makeup appointments since they tend to run late.

7. Keep a fun and stress-free ambience. Tell jokes and play music to keep everyone’s mood up.

8. Prepare an emergency kit. Don’t forget hairspray, bobby pins, hairbands, deodorant, Kleenex, brush, mirror, super glue, aspirin, mints, stain remover pen, bottle water, mini sewing kit, safety pins, tape, Band-Aids, makeup, and snacks.

9. Put out any fires. Did the MOB insult one of the groom’s aunts? Diffuse the situation by separating them and taking the groom’s aunt onto the dance floor to dance off that aggression.

10. And most importantly keep it together for the bride! Don’t let her see you sweat or cry because she’ll come undone.

Now print this and hand it out to your bridesmaids!

Wedding season is around the corner in Boise! We are so excited about the wonderful weddings coming up! As you are preparing for your wedding have you thought much about your first dance? This is such a special and sometimes UNNERVING dance for the two of you to share. Here are some tips for your first dance:

 • HAVE FUN! Don't be nervous- just have fun! Most of your guests don't know "how to dance" and aren't going to be watching your feet (even if you step on each others'!) Just smile, relax and enjoy!
 • SMILE! Honestly, your guests are going to be enamored by how much you love each other - and it will show during your first dance. Just smile, look into each others' eyes and let the world revolve around the two of you.
 • TAKE LESSONS - Feeling extra nervous? Take a few lessons. We have a couple on our team that teaches first dance lessons to help you feel comfortable and confident during your first dance. Contact Us today for more information.

Congratulations on your wedding!

At Sound Wave Music, our goal is to create stress free and fun weddings for our couples. Adam has made this happen for many brides.....

Alex shares, "Sound Wave is the absolute best choice for a DJ. I had my wedding out of town and they were very accommodating! Kristin and Adam help guide my wedding party on timing down the isle and made an online site for my guests to request their favorite songs. The music selection was great and flowed perfectly with the events occurring! After my event was over, everyone said how awesome the DJ was..one couple said more people danced at my wedding than four others they had been to over the summer. I would recommend Sound Wave Music to everyone!!"

Great job Adam!

<![CDATA[{Wedding Tips} Wedding Plans....Indoor or Outdoor?]]>Tue, 02 Oct 2012 19:15:45 GMThttp://www.boise-dj.com/1/post/2012/10/wedding-tips-wedding-plansindoor-or-outdoor.htmlPicture
One of the biggest decisions brides have to make when planning a wedding is if they should have their wedding indoors or outdoors. There are definite pros and cons to both and we have put together some helpful factors to consider in making this important decision:

Of course, most brides won't plan an outdoor wedding in McCall in the middle of December - but also, what about an outdoor wedding in the middle of July in Boise? That can be equally tough for some of your guests. Here are some things to consider when deciding between and indoor and an outdoor wedding venue:
 • Rain: April, May and June seem to be a little unpredictable when it comes to rain/snow. Consider indoor or indoor/outdoor venues during these volatile months. Have a plan for inclement weather.
 • Heat: July, August and September seem to be all around rain safe but can be hot. We recommend considering a tent if your guests will be outdoors in the direct sunlight for more than 20 minutes. For a ceremony outdoors in the summer, have buckets of chilled water, turn your programs into fans, and have mini umbrellas for some of the elderly folks. You may even choose to have sunscreen available for guests to use.
 • Seasonal Allergies: Some of your guests may be very sensitive to seasonal allergies and struggle being outside - typically in April and September.
 • Lighting: Talk with your photographer about lighting needs for your photos. Can you get the photos you want if you are indoors? If you feel an indoor venue is the best fit, plan to take photos before your ceremony and maybe sneak away for some sunset photos for 15-20 minutes during your reception.
 • Dancing: Looking for a great dance party at your reception? Keep in mind that most people feel most comfortable to dance once the sun goes down. This isn't always the case but dancing typically picks up considerably once it is dark. Indoor venues can create a 'nighttime' feel at any time of day, which can encourage more dancing earlier in the evening. If having your wedding outdoors, keep in mind that once the sun sets, your party will pick up.
 • Special Effects: Thinking about having a slideshow or some ambiant lighting? Keep in mind the sun and how these things will be impacted if used outdoors. Many lighting effects are most impactful later in the evening or indoors. We had a bride this summer who had an outdoor wedding and was a little disappointed when the slideshow had to be pushed back to a little later in the evening because of the sun. Keep thiese things in mind as you are planning the special parts of your evening.

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing an indoor or an outdoor wedding. Taking into consideration the above factors can help ensure you have a successful celebration for your wedding. Many brides opt for an indoor/outdoor venue so they can have the best of both worlds. Some to consider are: The Train Depot, Barber Park, Center at the Park, Eagle Hills Golf Course, Spurwing Country Club, The Grove Hotel, etc. Let us know if we can suggest any other wonderful venues that best fit your needs. Best wishes with your planning!

Looking for a photographer for your wedding? Visit our friends at Two Photography! Frances is an amazing and talented photographer. The thing we love about Frances is that when it comes to her clients - it isn't just about taking photos. She has a way of getting to know her couples and making their story come together through amazing images. She has a photojournalistic, yet candid style and aims to capture the memories of their day - making the whole experience meaningful. This is so apparent in the emotion she captures in her images - I love this photo from a wedding we did together in July that speaks to that perfectly!

We love working with Frances because she goes above and beyond to make sure the bride enjoys each part of her wedding. She is great to work with and we know when we DJ a wedding where she is the photographer, everything will go smoothly.

Check out her site at http://www.photographyby2.com/ to see samples of her work and to learn more about this fun, energetic, and vibrant photographer.
