Looking for a fun way to gather song requests from your guests for your Boise Wedding? One of our recent Brides had a great idea - she had a place for song requests on her RSVP reply cards. When we met with her to do planning she had compiled all the song requests and gave them to us (her Boise DJ) to prepare for the wedding. What a great idea!
Wedding guests LOVE to request songs - it helps them feel involved and excited about your wedding reception. When it comes to song requests, a great Boise DJ will make sure the requests are appropriate for your wedding and fit what you want to hear that evening. When songs are requested that won't fit well into the evening, your DJ should work with the guests to request more or different songs. At Sound Wave Music, our DJs are fully trained to work with guests in a fun, friendly, and professional way so they can request songs all night long.
Lately I have been receiving a lot of questions about how far in advance someone should book their DJ for their Boise Wedding or Party. This is a GREAT question. We have found that DJs are one of the last event vendor booked - but is one of the very most important.
BOISE WEDDINGS: When it comes to weddings we recommend booking your DJ at least 6 months in advance - depending on the time of year you get engaged. The busiest booking time for DJs in the Boise area is January-March. Come the middle of March, most of the higher end DJs have their summers completely or nearly completely booked, which just a few openings on Fridays or weekdays. If you get engaged in the fall or winter we recommend booking as soon as feasible for you and your fiance to secure your date. This also allows you to take advantage of winter booking specials (we offer a promotion for all summer wedding booked between Halloween and New Year's). Many Brides wait until the January wedding shows to book so they can meet and interview many different DJs. This is a fine plan, but just be aware that starting at the Wedding Shows in the weeks after, dates fill up QUICKLY. If you have a fall or winter wedding, we recommend having your DJ secured by June. Around this time many DJs book fall and winter dates for school dances and company parties - but you want to make sure you have priority, so book early.
BOISE EVENTS: When booking a DJ for your Boise Event, 4-6 months in advance is usually sufficient. It does, however, availability will depend on what time of year your event is being held. Summer months are busy months for weddings (May-August) and December is common for company parties. If you are holding an event during these busy months, especially on a Saturday, the earlier you can book the better.
Hope this helps answer some questions about how early to book your Boise DJ for your wedding or event. Remember, it is never to early to reserve your date - you might be glad you did! :)

Planning a wedding is such a wonderful experience! One of the fun parts of a wedding reception is having all your friends and family together to celebrate....including all the kiddos. Have you had concerns about having children at your wedding? No worries! We have some tips that we have collected from our experiences at weddings and from other experts in the wedding business. These tips are sure to help ease your mind about how to keep the little ones entertained during your big day.
Have Someone in Charge of Kids with Games and Activities Prepared - Sometimes there will be a special room set aside for the kids to play and maybe even having a movie playing. The key to success with tip is to have a person dedicated to caring for the little ones. This will minimize stress for you and for parents so everyone can enjoy your ceremony and reception.
Have a Children's Menu with Kid Friendly Foods - Kids like food they recognize. Try chicken strips, sandwiches cut into triangles or cut into shapes with cookie cutters, pre-cut fruit, go-gurt, fruit snacks, cupcakes, etc. Your Boise caterer can help with this!
Have snacks for the kids available throughout the evening. This is CRITICAL. Kids usually eat more frequently than adults and having snacks can help the children stay happy all evening.
Have the Kid's Dinner Table Covered with Paper so they can color and draw while they are waiting for their meal and afterward throughout the evening. You could even provide children with coloring books/crayons of their own or printed color sheets.
Teddy Bear Toss or Special Dance for the Kids - at a couple of our Boise weddings this summer we had brides do a special dance with the kids and then toss a teddy bear or other stuffed animal for the kids to catch. They also had other smaller toys/treats for ALL of the children so no one felt left out. This was so fun for all the kids and was a huge success.

Consumers who book a reception from June 1 to December 30 at any Holiday Inn could receive a gift card up to $750 toward their honeymoon. Members of the company's Priority Club Rewards program can also win prizes through the “Honeymoon on Us” contest, which Holiday Inn will promote heavily on Twitter. The initiative was created internally. Loyalty program members who follow @IHGDeals on Twitter will see a Tweet from the hotel brand at least once a day with an option to win. “Twitter is a good way for us to get the word out about this.,” said Del Ross, VP of US sales and marketing at IHG. “We launched the @IHG_Deals Twitter account in December for a different promotion, and it was really successful — we made some money off of it and created some Priority Club enrollment.” Consumers can enter drawings for “massive amounts” of Priority Club Rewards points they can redeem for merchandise or gift cards, Ross said. The time you spend planning your wedding can be one of the most exciting times in your life; it can also be one of the most stressful. With so many decisions to make, deadlines to meet, money to spend, questions to answer, etc…etc… it is easy to get irritable, overwhelmed, and stressed out. This post provides suggestions for keeping your stress level low and your energy at its peak.
Get plenty of sleep: Adults generally need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. A power nap during the day doesn’t hurt either. This will keep your energy up and your body healthy.
Talk about it: Have a trusted confidant who will allow you to talk, vent, cry, or scream, without passing judgment or becoming emotional themselves. Sometimes all you need is to talk it out!
Practice focused breathing: Sit in a comfortable position and take a deep breath. The deep breath oxygenates the blood, which ‘wakes up’ the brain, relaxes muscles and quiets the mind. Then, breathing normally, in through your nose and out through your mouth, focus on your breaths. (Sometimes it helps to focus if you visualize your breath as a color or an image.) If your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to your breathing. Continue this focused breathing for as long as you wish. Focused breathing is also a good practice if you have difficulty falling asleep at night – remain focused on your breathing until you fall asleep. Works like a charm!
Journaling: Take a few minutes each day to write about your thoughts, feelings, ideas, plans, progress, and dreams. Writing is incredibly therapeutic and calming. In addition, this activity moves the thoughts swimming around in your mind onto the paper so your mind can relax. Plus, you will cherish these memories later in life!

This weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to DJ a FUN wedding reception for J&N at the Barber Park Event Center in Boise.
