We recently had the opportunity to meet the owner of Floating Feather Day Spa and then had a great experience at her Spa!  What a great idea for a bridal party experience - a day at the spa!!  Imagine a day of fun and pampering with your maid of honor and bridesmaids, how fun!!  Floating Feather is located in downtown Boise and offers a full range of spa services including salon, massage, and skin & nail care and can give you a great day to celebrate your wedding.

Our experience at Floating Feather was EXCELLENT.  The service was top notch and the skill of the massage therapists we had was incredible.  We would recommend Floating Feather to anyone and think it is a great way to celebrate!  Click on the photo above to visit their website.

Picking a Great Boise Wedding Venue 01/19/2011

Picking a wedding venue can be a difficult task with many factors; location, size, beauty, ambiance, indoor or outside, cost, etc. One thing often overlooked is audio logistics. How will the music sound? Will everyone here any announcements?  Will people be sitting in front of the speakers? Some venues will naturally have guests in different areas at the same time. Will your DJ need extra speakers in these areas with individual volume control? A great DJ will know the venue you have chosen and go to the site with you and discuss the best audio options for you and your guests.  This way you can expect great sound, that is not too loud, and all guests will hear about all activities and announcements. Good luck with choosing your great Boise Wedding Venue!

Here are a Few Great Boise Wedding Venues:

Thought for the Day from Sound Wave Music, Boise's Best DJ for weddings, parties, dances, and events in Boise and the TreasureValley!

Love Is Patient

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud. It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. . . .

Tips for Having Children at Your Wedding A Success - Boise Wedding DJ - Sound Wave Music 09/14/2010

Planning a wedding is such a wonderful experience!  One of the fun parts of a wedding reception is having all your friends and family together to celebrate....including all the kiddos.  Have you had concerns about having children at your wedding?  No worries!  We have some tips that we have collected from our experiences at weddings and from other experts in the wedding business.  These tips are sure to help ease your mind about how to keep the little ones entertained during your big day.
  • Have Someone in Charge of Kids with Games and Activities Prepared - Sometimes there will be a special room set aside for the kids to play and maybe even having a movie playing.  The key to success with tip is to have a person dedicated to caring for the little ones.  This will minimize stress for you and for parents so everyone can enjoy your ceremony and reception.
  • Have a Children's Menu with Kid Friendly Foods - Kids like food they recognize.  Try chicken strips, sandwiches cut into triangles or cut into shapes with cookie cutters, pre-cut fruit, go-gurt, fruit snacks, cupcakes,  etc.  Your Boise caterer can help with this!
  • Have snacks for the kids available throughout the evening.  This is CRITICAL.  Kids usually eat more frequently than adults and having snacks can help the children stay happy all evening.
  • Have the Kid's Dinner Table Covered with Paper so they can color and draw while they are waiting for their meal and afterward throughout the evening.  You could even provide children with coloring books/crayons of their own or printed color sheets.
  • Teddy Bear Toss or Special Dance for the Kids - at a couple of our Boise weddings this summer we had brides do a special dance with the kids and then toss a teddy bear or other stuffed animal for the kids to catch.  They also had other smaller toys/treats for ALL of the children so no one felt left out.  This was so fun for all the kids and was a huge success.
Hope some of these ideas help you plan a wonderful wedding.  What other ideas do you have?  We would love to hear them and pass them on to other Boise brides.  Congratulations on your wedding!

How To Be a Good Wife

Sound Wave Music is committed to working with you, our client, to help make your Boise wedding the fun and exciting experience that you will never forget. As Boise wedding DJs, we have many years of experience in wedding planning and coordination and we will customize your wedding music and timeline to set the mood and efficiently meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

Speaking of expectations, as you prepare to take your vows as man and wife, just for fun, let’s take a look at how radically things have changed in the past 50 + years. By “things” I mean, not only technology and modern conveniences, but expectations as well.  A 1955 article in Housekeeping Monthly guides women on how to be a “good wife.” (For the original article, see image below.)

In 1955, a woman was encouraged, even instructed, to:
  • Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.
  • Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.
  • Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.
  • Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.
  • During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.
  • Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.
  • Be happy to see him.
  • Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.
  • Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.
  • Don't greet him with complaints and problems.
  • Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.
  • Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
  • Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.
  • Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.
  • A good wife always knows her place.
Isn't that so funny?!?  We definitely live in a different world!

Boise Wedding Idea - Gift to Honor Wedding Party - Sound Wave Music - Wedding DJ in Boise 08/05/2010

Gift idea for the Maid of Honor and / or Bridesmaids

Planning the perfect wedding takes work and cooperation from many different individuals. The most relied upon (for the bride anyway) are the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids. To thank them, you would like to give them a special gift, something unique yet useful , special, and meaningful.

Here is an idea for a unique gift that she will use for years to come:

Survival pack
: Create an economical and useful rescue kit that can be used later as a personal cosmetic bag and meaningful memento from the special day!  Purchase an empty cosmetic bag in your choice of color; insert a Thank You Card and stuff with your choice (most of these items can be purchase at the local dollar store):

Band-aids, clear fingernail polish, nail file, hair ties, hair spray, lotion, tissues, small sewing kit, stain remover pen, mints, hard candy, folding hairbrush with mirror, bobby pins, Chapstick, moist towelette, any other items you feel would be useful or fun!

If possible, have Bridesmaid’s name or initials embroidered on outside of bag.  With the possible exception of the Maid of Honor, consider giving each the same gift but in different colors. J

At Sound Wave Music in Boise we do more than just play music for your wedding We will customize our services to fit your needs, coordinate all your special activities and work to accommodate you every step of the way. We are Boise’s Best Wedding DJ because, not only do we provide exceptional customer service, we care!

Venue Spotlight - 36th Street Bistro - Highly Recommended by Boise Bride - Sound Wave Music 08/03/2010

Looking for a wonderful and affordable Boise venue for an event or wedding?  We have a venue coming highly recommended from a Boise Bride we recently DJ'd for - 36th Street Bistro.  We, likewise, had a great experience working at this venue.  36th Street Bistro is located on the corner of Hill Rd and 36th in the back of the 36th Street Garden Center.  If you have never been to the garden center or bistro, stop by and take a look.  It is AMAZING.  Chic.  Contemporary.  Green.  Zen.  Wonderful.

Our Boise Bride was very impressed with the event services the Bistro offered for her wedding reception.  They provide complete catering services which was very helpful for our Bride.  In addition, the price was RIGHT and within her budget while still providing a top quality meal for her guests.  At Bistro you can enjoy your event indoors in the dining area, outdoors on the patio, or BOTH.  There are sliding doors that can bring a very open feel to an indoor/outdoor event.

The staff at the Bistro was very helpful, accommodating, and nice.  We had a very good experience and recommend that you check it out!  Also, visit their website for a list of upcoming events at the Bistro - including occasional live music!
